A Bristol et au Pays de Galles

Fin mars-début avril, une cinquantaine d’élèves de la section d’approfondissement anglais (1re et terminale) et la classe de première L sont partis au Pays de Galles.

Ils étaient accompagnés de Mmes Primot, Goasmat et Felut, M. Delabarre, ainsi que de l’assistante canadienne Yooseung. Les élèves ont pris le bateau à Dunkerque (après plus de 8 h de route), ils se sont ensuite rendus à Bristol où ils ont passé une journée dans le musée @Bristol qui est un musée interactif très intéressant.

Ils ont ensuite rejoint leur famille d’accueil à Cardiff où ils ont passé la nuit. Le jour suivant, la journée s’est déroulée à Swansea où les lycéens ont découvert les chutes d’Aberdulais (des chutes magnifiques habituellement, mais un paysage un peu décevant ce jour-là, à cause du mauvais temps). Ils y ont appris le pouvoir de l’eau et l’impact de l’industrie.

Le jour d’après, les élèves et leurs accompagnateurs ont visité le Welsh Folk Museum, la reconstitution d’un village gallois authentique. Dans l’après-midi, ils ont eu du temps libre pour faire du shopping ou se balader dans la ville.

Le lendemain, ils ont découvert le Millenium Stadium de Cardiff où ils ont vu des joueurs de Rugby s’entraîner.

L’après-midi, ils ont pu parcourir la capitale galloise et faire du shopping dans le grand centre commercial de la ville. Ils ont ensuite rejoint le bus et repris le bateau pour Dunkerque, avant un retour au lycée vers 13 h 30.

Trip to Wales

Day 1 : Sunday, 28th of February

The students left Pont-l’Abbé at 4 pm by coach to Dunkerque where they took the boat to Dover.

Day 2 : Monday, 29th of February

After leaving Brittany, they arrived at Calais at 3 am to take the boat at 4h during 1:30. They were at Dover at 4:30 (be careful of time difference !). Then, the bus took them to Bristol at 9:30, and they visited the @-Bristol, which is a playful and interactive museum of sciences. They also discovered the solar system through the planetarium. Next, they took a break to relax, with the visit of Bristol. Then they joined the bus at 6:30 pm, in order to meet their families. They met them at 7:30 pm, and discovered their houses and their way of life.

Day 3 : Tuesday, 1st of March in Swansea

They started the day at 8:30 am in Swansea. They were headed for Talbot to visit the Aberdulais Falls where they discovered the power of water and the impact on the industry. In the afternoon, they discovered Gower Peninsula.

Day 4 : Wednesday, 2d March in Cardiff and the folklore

In the morning, in Cardiff, they visited the Welsh Folk Museum, which is a reconstitution of the evolution of a typical Welsh village over time. In the afternoon, they did some things organized by the teachers (discovery of the city and shopping).

Day 5 : Thursday, 3rd of March

They left their families at 8 am. In the morning they visited the Millenium Stadium which is the most impressive stadium in Europe with its futuristic and spectacular appearance. The afternoon they visited the capital of Wales : the Civil Center, the Arcades, the museum. And they also went shopping. After that, they had an appointment with the bus driver at 5:15 pm and they went to Dover where they took the boat for Dunkerque at 11 : 59 pm.

Day 6 : Friday, 4th of March

They arrived by boat in France at 2:30 pm. Next unfortunately, they were driven back to the high school by coach to finally arrive in Pont-l’abbé at 1:30 pm, they had wonderful memories in their mind.
